With the 4th of July on the horizon, many in the U.S. will be celebrating Independence Day, but how many of us will be celebrating our personal independence?  It is something that can go uncelebrated all too often in our lives and our society, and that is why I want to devote some attention to this topic today!

So, what exactly do I mean by “personal independence?”  To me, the term refers to a person’s ability to live the life they want on their own terms, or, simply put, to have complete control of their life.  Doesn’t that sound amazing?  The power and confidence that comes along with this kind of ownership can be life-changing, but it can be difficult to stay in control and maintain personal independence.  Why is that?

Think of the stressors in your life.  When something is stressing us out, it is taking control of that part of life, at least to some extent, and that control weakens our personal independence.  It is hard to feel fulfilled when struggling with stress, and therein lies the need to combat the stressors in your life to turn surviving into thriving!

That is where conversations with a professional certified coach will help immensely!  The whole purpose of working with a coach is to determine how to live the life you want, and the elimination of stressors is certainly part of that equation.  My coaching assists people in formulating concrete, achievable plans to cut stress out of their lives in order to take back that control, and it would be a privilege to partner with you in this way, too!

Your personal independence is possible!  It may not always feel like that, but I promise you that it is.  Sometimes, to achieve the independence we’re looking for, we have to do something a little counter-intuitive – we have to ask for help.  Teaming up with a coach doesn’t mean that you’re giving up some freedom in your life; on the contrary, it shows that you have taken a step towards full control.  As paradoxical as it may seem, a goal of my coaching is to get you to a point in your life where you no longer need to be coached.  When you have designed the mindsets, habits, and actions you need to live the life you want and be who you want to be, then our work is done.  That doesn’t mean I won’t always be in your corner though.  A coach is a partner for as long as you need one, and I hope to have the honor of partnering with you!

Make today your personal independence day!
